Youth falls down from rooftop during kite-flying, dies

Amid celebrations of Makar Sankranti, a teenage boy was killed and 46 others, mostly children, were injured today in kite flying-related accidents here, an official said.

17-year-old Tilak Raj, living in Moti Nagar, fell down from a rooftop, and his friends brought him to a hospital, while his parents were contacted later, SMS Trauma Hospital's in-charge told PTI, adding, he was brought dead there.

Among the injured, nine were admitted to various wards including orthopaedic, neuro-surgery, and trauma, and the rest were discharged after administering first-aid, the in-charge said.

Besides SMS Trauma Hospital, several persons getting injurd in kite flying-related accidents were also reported, though the exact number of patients is yet to be totalled.
 

Yesterday, at least 80 people, mostly children, were injured in kite-flying related accidents in the state capital. Thirteen injured persons, including two women, were admitted to various wards including orthopaedic in the hospital.

Meanwhile, devotees thronged Pushkar Lake in Ajmer district, and Jaipur' famous Galtaji (pond) to take a holy dip to the mark the celebrations of Makar Sankranti.

Kite flying was on peak and roads bore deserted look as not only children but the elders also enjoyed kite flying amid festive mood.
