A local court in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district today ordered seven-year rigorous imprisonment for a 23-year-old man for raping a minor girl.
Mayurbhanj District Session Court judge Amiya Ranjan Jena convicted Deepak Kumar Singh under Sections 376, 451 of the IPC and Section 4 of POCSO (The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act.
He was sentenced to seven years' rigorous imprisonment by the court after conviction.
Singh was arrested on charge of raping a minor girl at Gorudabasa village on April 3, 2015 when she was alone at home.
The girl's mother lodged an FIR following which Singh was arrested.
The court recorded statements of 15 witnesses before convicting Singh.
