Youth held for raping 70 yr old woman

A 20-year-old youth was today arrested for allegedly raping an elderly woman near here, police said.

The incident occurred around midnight of August 19, when the accused Mujahid, a cook, went to the house of the 70-year-old victim in Vikarabad town of neighbouring Ranga Reddy district, and allegedly raped her, Vikarabad Circle Inspector V L Ram said.

"The victim's son later lodged a complaint in this regard and the woman was admitted at a nearby hospital. The accused was taken into custody and produced before a court which has sent him into judicial remand," he added.

A case of rape under section 376 of IPC was registered.
