Youth killed as littered shell explodes

A youth was killed when a littered shell exploded in an army firing range in central Kashmir's Budgam district, police said today.

Bilal Ahmad Parray (26), a resident of Cherhar Beerwah area of the district, was critically injured when a littered shell in the Tosmaidan firing range exploded yesterday, a police spokesman said.

Parray was rushed to a hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries on the way.

He had gone to the forest area to collect wood, the spokesman said adding, police has registered a case.
