Youth shot dead in Nashik

A 22-year-old youth, who had several cases registered against him, was shot dead allegedly by unidentified persons here, police said today.

Ajinkya Chavan was shot at Upendra Nagar area in the Cidco locality at around 11.30 PM last night by unidentified persons, Inspector Madhukar Kad of Ambad police station said.

Chavan was riding on a two-wheeler, when the unidentified accused, who were chasing him on a motorcycle, pumped bullets into him, the officer said.

He was injured and rushed to the civil hospital, where he succumbed to the wounds, Kad added.

Several cases including those of extortion were registered against Chavan, police said.
 

The officer said some "suspects" were detained in this connection and an investigation is on.
