Youth trying to rob jewellery, held

A youth, posing as customer, tried to rob jewellery from a shop and flee after throwing black pepper in eyes of the shop owner, police said today.

The shop owner along with few locals, chased and caught the culprit and handed him over to police yesterday night, they said adding, the thief's accomplice, managed to escape.

Police said raids were being conducted in search of the absconding accomplice.
