: Lt Governor Virendra Kataria today said it was a matter of concern that youth who account for a sizeable section of population were most wanting when it comes to casting votes.
Felicitating first time voters on 'National Voters Day' here today,he said youth should be brought on board to vote as they constitute an important segment in the poll process.
He said all newly enrolled eligible voters should be made aware of the right conferred on them and importance of polls and the determining role their votes would play in formation of the government of their choice.

"There cannot be real democracy if the youth constituting sizeable percentage of voters do not participate in elections. This has been the principal concern along with other attendant problems of money and muscle power," he said.
Kataria, who administered the pledge to young voters,said several studies and surveys had revealed that upwardly mobile urban middle class have lost their enthusiasm for participation in elections. "There is also widespread apathy from educated elite and these issues should be addressed."
The Lt Governor hoped the coming Lok Sabha polls would see greater participation of people for a stronger democracy.
