Zinc prices moved down by 0.80 per cent to Rs 178.80 per kg in futures trading today as speculators trimmed positions amid subdued demand in the spot market.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in July month declined by Rs 1.45, or 0.80 per cent to Rs 178.80 per kg in business turnover of 1,699 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in August contracts shed Rs 1.40, or 0.77 per cent to Rs 179.25 per kg in 13 lots.
Analysts said offloading of positions by participants on the back of muted demand in the spot markets and weak trend overseas, mainly led to the fall in zinc prices at futures trade.
