Zinc sheds 0.15% on weak overseas trend

Speculators pare exposures as offtake from domestic consuming industries is sluggish

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Zinc futures fell by 0.15 per cent today as participants reduced exposures on a weak trend in base metals in the global market and subdued spot demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in April traded lower by 20 paise, or 0.15 per cent, to Rs 136.60 per kg, with a business turnover of 146 lots.

The metal for delivery in May fell by 15 paise, or 0.14 per cent, to Rs 137.45 per kg in a turnover of 4 lots.

Traders said the fall in zinc prices at futures trade was mostly in tandem with a weak trend base metals at the London Metal Exchange (LME) and sluggish demand at spot markets from consuming domestic industries.
