Zinc futures softens 0.88%, in line with global trend

Zinc futures traded 0.88 per cent lower at Rs 106.75 per kg today after speculators trimmed positions, tracking a weak global trend.
In futures trading at Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in current month contracts declined 95 paise, or 0.88 per cent, to Rs 106.75 per kg. It clocked business turnover of 615 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in October contracts softened by 85 paise, or 0.78 per cent, to Rs 108.30 per kg in 113 lots.
Analysts said the weakness in zinc in futures trade was mostly attributed to a falling trend in copper and other base metals at the London Metal Exchange.
