Zinc loses 0.34% on global cues

Weakness in base metals in London influences prices in futures market

Zinc prices moved down by 0.34 per cent to Rs 133.45 per kg in futures market today as speculators offloaded their positions in tandem with a weak global trend.

At the Multi Commodity exchange, zinc for delivery in February contracts moved down by 45 paise, or 0.34 per cent to Rs 133.45 per kg in business turnover of 334 lots.

The March contract traded lower by 40 paise, or 0.32 per cent to Rs 134.20 per kg in ten lots.

Marketmen said weakness in copper and other base metals at the London Metal Exchange (LME) on weak China trade data, mainly influenced zinc prices at futures trade.
 

At the LME, zinc dropped as much as 0.8 per cent.
