Digital payment to go easy on taxpayer's wallet

Digital transactions done post Nov 8 can winner will get Rs 5 lakh to Rs 1 cr award through contest

Amitabh Kant, the chief executive of NITI Aayog has said that in the upcoming budget will make sure that digital payment gets cheaper. This is being done to promote digital payments and help less-cash economy concept.

In wake of promoting digital payments, the government has already announced two schemes where digital transactions done post demonetisation will be liable for a lucky draw contest. The lucky winner will get awards ranging between Rs 5 lakh to Rs 1 crore. The winners will be announced on the birth anniversary of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, April 14, 2017.

This announcement will pave way for some further announcements in connection with digital payments in the budget. 

"The government is saying it will ensure people with digital transactions are supported through various taxation measures.That will happen in the next few days. Several measures have been announced by the finance minister but many more will be announced in the budget, I am sure," said Amitabh Kant. 

"We have identified six key problems from thousands of problems that India needs a solution for from the rest of the world," said Kant but did not elaborate on the chosen areas, reported The Economic Times.
