Registrations under the Bima Sakhi scheme of Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) crossed the 52,000 mark within a month of its launch, the state-owned insurer said on Wednesday.
Through specialised training, the scheme aims to empower women aged between 18 and 70 years who have completed at least Class X. It also provides stipend for the first three years to enhance financial literacy and insurance awareness.
LIC is seeking to enroll 100,000 Bima Sakhis in 12 months and 200,000 over a period of three years as part of its women empowerment drive.
Upon completing the training, participants can become LIC agents. Additionally, successful graduates of the program will have the opportunity to qualify for consideration for Development Officer roles within LIC.
