Future Supply Chain Solutions Ltd. (FSC) - Chairman Speech
Company chairman speech
Dear stakeholders It is an honour to present to you our Annual Report for 2018-19. During the year weundertook several strategic initiatives to maintain a sustainable growth and createfurther value for our shareholders. In doing so we have continued to add velocity to ourcustomers aspirations. This led us to re-define our vision of becoming a Rs.10000crore company by partnering with consumer-facing businesses offering them agile reliableand integrated supply chain solutions through our world-class technology-enabledinfrastructure. The Indian Logistics Industry was valued at around US$ 160 billion in 2016-17. Thesector is witnessing a turnaround after having historically fraught with inefficienciessuboptimal modal mix inadequate supply chain networks and the dominance of unorganisedplayers. With the implementation of strong reforms like Goods and Service Taxes (GST)coupled with the Governments infrastructure push by way of several initiatives andprojects a level playing field has been set for the organised players. Consumer productcompanies are also beginning to consolidate smaller warehouses across multiple statesafter India became a single tax economy. Logistics is gaining strategic importance for the manufacturers as well. The supplychain requirements have been evolving from a plain-vanilla transportation and warehousingof cargo to technology-led value-added services thus facilitating the emergence ofnew-age business models. This has built up a strong doorway of opportunity for integratedlogistics companies such as FSC that offers value-addition in the form of modernwarehousing technology enabled solutions resulting in greater efficiencies. Ourrevolutionary India Food Grid project has given us an opportunity to connectthe entire nation through a seamless network. It can manage distribution right from themanufacturing hubs up till the final point of consumption. FMCG and Food brands can enterthe grid from anywhere in the country and benefit from improved supply chain efficienciesreduced wastages better inventory management and increased availability of consumerproducts at locations where the demand is. We are known for breaking barriers in our industry. We have driven women empowerment inthe rural and semi-urban areas through our expanding warehouse footprint and distributioncentres. During the year we established an all-women run distribution centreShakti in Nimji Nagpur. I am pleased to share that we have been positivelysurprised by their high productivity low absenteeism and low attrition ratio. While itwas a well-thought move to run Shakti the success wouldnt have been possiblewithout the passion of the women in the facility. We look forward to inducting more womenin our warehousing facilities and be the flag bearer of this change. With round-the-clock operations slowly becoming a norm implementing sustainabilityinitiatives is now a must in warehouse management. Warehouses typically have large areasof unutilised rooftop space and feature extensive lighting and refrigerationinstallations. We will be implementing rooftop solar panels across our 15 warehouses inthe coming year as our endeavour towards reducing carbon footprint. We look at the year ahead with confidence and anticipation. We are set on our journeyto achieve our objectives through dedication hard work capabilities and organisationalstrengths. We will continue to maintain high standards in good governance practicesuphold integrity and trust and create sustainable value for our stakeholders going ahead. With warm regards Rakesh Biyani
