Lanxess donates Rs 53 lakhs to support Teach for India

Specialty chemicals maker has been supporting the NGO with financial aid since 2010

As a part of its commitment towards education is continuing its social responsibility programme, specialty chemicals maker Lanxess India Pvt Ltd has donated around Rs 53 lakhs to Teach For India (TFI), an Indian non-profit organisation, which works towards providing quality education to children. This renewed association comes on the heels of Lanxess’ support to the TFI since 2010. The company has been supporting the NGO with financial aid to the tune of Rs 30 lakhs per annum since then.
 
In a simple function at LANXESS House in Thane, Dr. Joerg Strassburger, Managing Director and Country Representative, LANXESS India Pvt. Ltd. handed over the donation cheque to Ms. Gayatri Lobo, Chief Operating Officer, Teach For India (TFI).
 
Teach For India is a nationwide NGO, that aims to eliminate inequity in education in India. Through its Fellowship program, TFI recruits qualified college graduates and working professionals to serve as full-time teachers in low-income schools for two years. Fellows work to bridge the educational gaps that their students face, in the hope of putting their students on a fundamentally different life path. Through the 'Teaching as Leadership' framework, Teach For India staff provides training and support to Fellows so that they can employ innovative teaching strategies to maximise their effectiveness in the classroom.
 
Dr Joerg Strassburger, Managing Director and Country Representative, Lanxess India Pvt Ltd, said, “We appreciate the work that Teach For India is doing in imparting quality education to school children and are happy to partner them in this cause. At Lanxess, we believe that education is the key to the future and are pleased to support Teach For India, in spreading the light of knowledge.”
 
Gayatri Lobo, Chief Operating Officer, Teach For India, added, “Teach For India feels proud to be associated with Lanxess since 2010. Lanxess has always been a strong supporter of our beliefs.”
