Sylvia Kleemann will become Merck’s Head of Group Tax as of January 1, 2014, and will report directly to Matthias Zachert, Member of the Executive Board and Chief Financial Officer.

“I am pleased that Sylvia Kleemann is joining Merck to take on this important position. Owing to her previous positions at KPMG, Celanese, Fresenius Medical Care and most recently as Head of Corporate Tax at Boehringer Ingelheim, Sylvia Kleemann has extensive experience in both the pharmaceutical and the chemical industries. At the same time, Sylvia Kleemann has a very broad understanding of both public and family-owned companies, which makes her ideally suited for her new position at Merck,” said Zachert.
