September 27, 2022 18:00 IST

Yasasvi Malka is a young edupreneur, environmentalist, and startup enthusiast. He is the founder and president of the Wheelathon Foundation. He is also the founder and CEO of EcoBharat, an organization trying to find an alternative to plastic. He has a keen interest in helping the youths of his hometown-Hyderabad with their entrepreneurial ventures.

Yasasvi has a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Civil Engineering from the BITS Pilani, Dubai campus. During his studies there, he started the Wheelathon foundation. The Wheelathon foundation organizes cycle rallies across various cities of South India. These cycle rallies also raise funds which are donated towards various social causes. They have been able to raise Rs. 10, 00,000 every year since 2015. In the year 2018, the Wheelathon foundation secured the unique distinction of being the largest cycle rally organized by students.

After completing his studies in 2020, Yasasvi joined his dad’s business. Here he learned the nuances of running a successful business. The entrepreneur in him got real field training during his time handling his father’s business. With a dream to share his learnings with other budding entrepreneurs and help mentor youngsters, he started EcoBharat, which is looking to replace plastic. EcoBharat is in collaboration with the Defence Research and Development Organisation. EcoBharat has been successful in finding an alternative to plastic. Needless to say, this will greatly impact the environment and will go a long way in combating plastic pollution.

Yasasvi is a huge believer in education being a tool for overall personality growth. Not just a way to excel in academics. This is evident from the fact that he has actively participated in sports and co-curricular activities.

As the president and sponsorship head of the Sports Festival at his alma mater- BITS Pilani, he was integral in raising over 250,000 AED. This is the highest amount ever raised by any student there until now. He was also an active member of the Event Management Team in his college. He even says that his time as the captain of the Cricket Team at his college helped him learn the key aspects of leadership.

As a young entrepreneur and environmentalist at heart, his vision is to mentor the next generation of startup enthusiasts, guide them through their journey, and be the voice for them. It is safe to assume he is succeeding in his endeavor. At least the panel at the Checkmate programme organized by the Colors TV channel thought so because they nominated young Yasasvi for the award of the Smartest Young Executive.

Despite all his work that keeps him busy throughout the day, Yasasvi believes in maintaining a healthy work-life balance. He says he takes all his decisions in line with his larger goal of building a better future for the people of Hyderabad. This is why he is reaching out to as many youngsters as possible to remedy their problems.

Yasasvi Malka is very much like the new India we live in; young, driven and not all averse to risk-taking.
