The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has issued guidelines on Settlement of Dues of borrowers by Asset Reconstruction Companies (ARCs). The revised guidelines mandate that ARCs adopt a more structured approach to settle dues while ensuring transparency and accountability in their operations. 
As per the new guidelines, every ARC must establish a Board-approved policy that governs the settlement of borrower dues. The policy is required to address critical aspects such as eligibility criteria for one-time settlements, permissible sacrifices based on exposure categories, and methodologies to determine the realisable value of securities.

The Indian rupee appreciated 5 paise to close at 86.55 (provisional) against the US dollar on Monday, as an overnight decline in crude oil prices and the US dollar index supported investor sentiments. The dollar index recoiled below 109 mark ahead of Trump taking the key position of President later in the global day. Besides, a positive trend in domestic equities also helped the local currency. The benchmark 30-share BSE Sensex ended a range-bound session up 454.11 points, or 0.59 percent, at 77,073.44 while the broader NSE Nifty index closed at 23,344.75, up 141.55 points, or 0.1 percent, from its previous close.

Large currency speculators further reduced net long position in the Pound futures, according to the latest Commitment of Traders (COT) data released by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). The non-commercial futures contracts of Pound futures, traded by large speculators and hedge funds, totaled a net long position of 438 contracts in the data reported through January 14, 2025. This was a weekly decline of 14068 net contracts.

Large currency speculators in the Euro futures market continue to stay net short, according to the latest Commitment of Traders (COT) data released by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). The non-commercial futures contracts of Euro futures, traded by large speculators and hedge funds, totaled a net short position of 60397 contracts in the data reported through January 14, 2025. This was a weekly fall of 3727net short contracts.
