Siemens Energy India Ltd (SEIL) on Monday posted 36.34 per cent rise in net profit at Rs 246.1 crore for January-March 2025, mainly driven by income from power transmission and generation segment.

In March quarter, the company reported a total income of Rs 1,893.9 crore, up from Rs 1,196.8 crore in the year-ago period.
Revenues from transmission rose to Rs 1,013.8 crore from Rs 604.9 crore in January-March 2024. Revenue from generation grew to Rs 865.7 crore from Rs 591.7 crore.
Expenses also shot up to Rs 1,548.6 crore from Rs 952.4 crore on account of increased cost of materials consumed and project bought outs and other direct costs.
The company's profit in October-March more than doubled to Rs 477.8 crore from Rs 180.5 crore earlier.

In the country's first digital census, enumerators will collect the data of citizens using mobile applications on their Android and Apple phones, they said.
It will also be the first time in the country that citizens will get a chance to self-enumerate through a dedicated web portal which will be available for both the phases of Census - Houselisting and Housing Census (HLO) and Population Enumeration.
"Digital Census initiative is a transformational step towards modernising the Census process. For the first time, technology will be used to collect data and send it electronically to the central server. This will result in early availability of Census data," an official said.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) on Friday presented a Rs 40,187 crore-budget for the megapolis.

The Rajya Sabha on Thursday returned the Finance Bill 2025 to the Lok Sabha, along with 35 government amendments, including one that abolishes a 6 per cent digital tax on online advertisements, thus completing the 2025-26 budgetary exercise that started on February 1.
The House also returned the Appropriation Bill (3) with a voice vote.
Earlier in the day, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had moved the two bills in the House.
The Lok Sabha had passed the Finance Bill on March 25 and passed the Appropriation Bill on March 21.
Replying to the debate later in the evening, she said the tendency of the finance ministry would be to exercise caution and not let go of revenues.
"But, here we wanted to use this opportunity to show our respect for Indian taxpayer. We have moved towards setting Rs 12 lakh as threshold up to which no one will have to pay any tax," Sitharaman said.
