Rameswaram (Tamil Nadu), Aug 13 (ANI): The Sri Lankan Navy apprehended seven Indian fishermen in Tamil Nadu's Rameswaram on August 13. They were apprehended near Delft Island and further taken to Kangesanthurai naval camp. The Sri Lankan Navy also seized one country made boat which was allegedly used for poaching in the Sri Lankan territorial waters. Straying of Indian and Sri Lankan fishermen into each other's waters is a recurrent problem as territories on the sea are not clearly demarcated. While speaking to ANI, State Secretary of Tamil Nadu Fisher Work Federation, CR Senthilvel said, "Today, seven of Indian fishermen who were undertaking fishing activity near Delft Island have been detained by the Sri Lankan Navy. They are being interrogated but we really don't know that why our innocent fishermen are being detained every often. Our fishermen are detained and this trend continued unabated."
