Durgabari (West Tripura district), Apr 12 (ANI): Activities in tea gardens resumed during lockdown in Tripura but with half workforce than usual. This has given some respite to tea estates, which were predicting huge losses. Due to the lockdown, the gardens missed the first plucking of the season and the leaves got wasted. The government has given permission to the tea estates to allow controlled activities and manage with half the strength of workers amid maintaining all precautions, right from using masks, social distancing to washing hands on regular intervals. This has given relief to some extend to both the owners as well as the tea workers, who are generally paid on daily basis. In addition to this, they will also be provided with some ration by the authority at a subsidized rate.
