State-owned Power Finance Corporation on Wednesday posted an 11 per cent  rise in its consolidated net profit to Rs 8,357.88 crore for the quarter ended March 31, mainly on the back of higher interest income.
The company had posted a net profit of Rs 7,556.43 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal, according to a regulatory filing.
Total income rose to Rs 29,285.45 crore in the quarter under review, from Rs 24,176.34 crore in the same period a year ago.
The interest income in the quarter rose to Rs 28,676.15 crore from Rs 23,891.19 crore in same period a year ago.
During FY25, the consolidated net profit rose to Rs 30,514.40 crore from Rs 26,461.18 crore in the previous financial year.
Total income in the fiscal year increased to Rs 1,06,598.70  crore, from Rs 91,174.87  crore a year ago.

The services department of Delhi government said it's previous order dated May 8 cancelling all leaves of officers/officials stands withdrawn with immediate effect.
In its May 8 order, the department cancelled leaves of all Delhi government employees until further orders to prepare for any emergency situation arising out of the hostilities between India and Pakistan following Operation Sindoor.
The situation, however, improved after a few days as the two countries on May 10 decided to halt the military action with immediate effect.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday directed administrative and police officials in the northern part of the state to remain vigilant for cross-border threats in the strategically sensitive region.
She also asked the officials to stay alert in view of potential flooding due to heavy rain.
Chairing a high-level administrative meeting during her ongoing three-day visit to northern West Bengal, she said the region, which shares international borders with Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh, is "highly sensitive", and directed the police and administration to intensify patrolling to prevent any infiltration bid, especially of anti-national elements.
"Even though the BSF is deployed, state administrative officials must also remain vigilant," she said.
She also cautioned officials against the spread of misinformation and fake news, stating that updates should only be disseminated through the government during any crisis.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) on Friday presented a Rs 40,187 crore-budget for the megapolis.
Infrastructure spends across projects have been pegged at Rs 35,151 crore or 87 per cent of the overall expenditure, as per an official statement. The revenues have been estimated at Rs 36,939 crore, and the body chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde will be borrowing Rs 22,000 crore.
This will result in a budget deficit of Rs 3,249 crore, which the body plans to bridge through land sales, issuance of bonds, financial assistance from the government, and loans from financial institutions, the statement said.

The Rajya Sabha on Thursday returned the Finance Bill 2025 to the Lok Sabha, along with 35 government amendments, including one that abolishes a 6 per cent digital tax on online advertisements, thus completing the 2025-26 budgetary exercise that started on February 1.

Earlier in the day, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had moved the two bills in the House.
The Lok Sabha had passed the Finance Bill on March 25 and passed the Appropriation Bill on March 21.
Replying to the debate later in the evening, she said the tendency of the finance ministry would be to exercise caution and not let go of revenues.
"But, here we wanted to use this opportunity to show our respect for Indian taxpayer. We have moved towards setting Rs 12 lakh as threshold up to which no one will have to pay any tax," Sitharaman said.
