Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth announced on Wednesday that the US military carried out another strike on a boat he said was carrying drugs in the eastern Pacific Ocean, killing all four people aboard the vessel, as the Trump administration pursues its divisive campaign against drug cartels in the waters off South America.
Hegseth said in a social media post that intelligence determined the craft was transiting along a known narco-trafficking route, and carrying narcotics. He said the strike was conducted in international waters and no US forces were harmed.

A 60-year-old woman drowned and eight people, including five children, went missing on Wednesday after a boat capsized in the Kaudiyala river near Bharathapur village in a densely forested area of this district, officials said.
The incident occurred around 6 pm when 22 people from Khairatiya village of neighbouring Lakhimpur district were travelling by boat to Bharathapur, they said, adding efforts are on to trace the missing persons.
Locals said the boat overturned in the river because the flow of the water was strong.
According to an official statement issued in Lucknow, of 22 people, 13 were saved while one Ramajiya (60) drowned and her body was later recovered.
Eight people are still missing and attempts are on to trace them, the statement said.
Among the eight missing are boatman Mihilal Yadav (38), Shivnandan Maurya (50), Suman (28), Sohni (5), Shivam (9), and a five-year-old daughter of Shanti.  Victim Ramjaiya's two grandsons aged 7 years and 10 years are also missing, it

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday said his government was committed to ensuring that every woman in the state becomes financially independent, self-reliant and capable of entrepreneurship.
Inaugurating the second edition of the 'Subhadra Shakti Mela' here, Majhi said the fair, which will continue till November 12, was a platform to showcase women's empowerment and entrepreneurship under the Subhadra Yojana.
"Our goal is to create a prosperous Odisha by 2036 and to make it the growth engine of a developed India by 2047. This goal will be fulfilled when the power of our lakhs of Subhadra mothers is awakened. They will be empowered and their valuable contribution will be in every field of development," he said.
The Subhadra Yojana is a unique model to achieve that goal, he stated.
He added that Odisha has achieved unprecedented success by creating 17 lakh Lakhpati Didis in a very short time under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's flagship scheme Lakhpati Didi Yojana.

Survivors of the Venkateswara Swamy temple tragedy in Srikakulam district blamed the use of a singe narrow gate for both entry and exit and the lack of crowd management, which resulted in a stampede-like situation that killed nine people and injured several others on Saturday.
At least nine devotees--eight women and a boy--were killed at the temple in Kasibugga town. Many sustained injuries or suffered breathlessness and were admitted to local hospitals.  According to the survivors, chaos broke out when the only fate was abruptly opened, allowing those who had compeleted their darshan to come out, while another group waiting below tried to enter. This resulted in people falling on one another and a weak steel grill gave way, trapping many devotees underneath.  The approach to the temple is narrow. There were many people and only single entry and exit point. As people jostled, we fell down. The steel grill was also very weak. The grill people were holding onto broke and everybody fell,

The South Western Railway on Saturday announced a significant milestone in freight performance for October 2025, recording Rs 421.25 crore in freight revenue, an increase of 10.05 per cent from Rs. 382.79 crore earned in October 2024.
This strong revenue growth is backed by 4.168 MT of originating freight loaded during the month  a substantial 13.9 per cent  (0.508 MT) more than the 3.660 MT loaded in the corresponding period of the previous year, it said.
"This strong monthly performance reflects SWR's focused efforts in freight business development, improved loading efficiency, and enhanced coordination with industries across Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Goa," the South Western Railway (SWR) said in a statement.
According to SWR, it has generated Rs. 2,999.27 crore in freight revenue during the first seven months of FY 2025-26, marking an impressive 24.55 per cent growth (Rs. 591.15 crore) compared to Rs. 2,408.12 crore in the corresponding period of the .
