This is going to be an unusual and, perhaps, a long question. Please bear with me. I am 60 years old and have been driving since the age of 11. Driving is one of my active hobbies and I have driven all over the country. I used to have a Gypsy and then for the last 10 years I have had a Mahindra Scorpio (4x4). These vehicles have enabled me to travel to the most unusual places and through the most unusual terrain. In the family we have other cars as well (sedan, hatchback, etc.).

If you&rsquo;re a true Banarasi you will never, ever call a boat a nao. It is always bajra. Not only do the mallahs ply the bajra, they also control all trade on the ghat: the sale of sand on the banks and the elements necessary for puja: sindur, oil, akshat, vegetable and fruit that has to be immersed in the Ganga after a bath; and, of course, the tariff for the bajra ride.

The first sight that greets you in Sansarpur is the hockey ground. And why not &mdash; after all, this small village a few kilometers from Jalandhar cantonment was at one time the hotbed of Indian hockey. The village of 6,000 has produced 14 Olympians, 19 internationals who played for India and over 150 players who played for various national-level teams over the years. That&rsquo;s not all. From 1928 to 1980, the Indian hockey team won 11 Olympic medals and in all but four occasions, a lad from Sansarpur was in the team. But that was in the past.

Aeroflot ended in a photo-finish with Polish GM Mateusz Bartel, and the Ukrainian duo of Anton Korobov and Pavel Eljanov tied with 6.5/9. Bartel had the best tiebreak and makes it to Dortmund. The best Indian performance came from Sasikiran who tied for 9th with 5.5. Among other notable performances, two 14-year-olds, Russian Grigoriy Oparin and Vaibhav Suri both scored GM norms while the 12-year-old Chinese FM Wei Yi managed an IM norm.
