Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are through to the Champions League quarter-finals, delivering a gutsy performance at Anfield before holding their nerve in a tense penalty shootout against Liverpool on Wednesday morning (according to Indian Standard Time).

Luis Enrique leads wild PSG celebrations
The scenes at full-time say it all. As PSG players flood the pitch in celebration, Luis Enrique sprints straight to Gianluigi Donnarumma, embracing his goalkeeper before turning to celebrate in front of the travelling fans. It’s an incredible moment for a team that started the night on the back foot, having lost the first leg at home.

Liverpool fall short in a night of high drama
So many had tipped Liverpool as favourites to win the competition, but their journey ends here. The six-time European champions won’t be adding a seventh title this season, as their players stand dejected while PSG revel in their triumph.

Doué delivers the decisive blow
The moment of glory came from Desire Doué, who stepped up to convert the winning penalty. Alisson Becker dived left, but the ball went right, sealing PSG’s passage into the last eight.

A remarkable turnaround from the French side, who showed resilience, composure, and the spirit of champions.

Barcelona's attacking brilliance stuns Benfica
Barcelona put on a scintillating display at the Barcelona Olympic Stadium, led by Raphinha’s brace and a sensational solo goal from Lamine Yamal. The Catalan giants dominated proceedings, controlling possession and creating wave after wave of attacks.

Yamal runs the show with dazzling display
It was a night to remember for 17-year-old Lamine Yamal, who was instrumental in Barcelona’s attacking success. In the 11th minute, he carved open Benfica’s defence with a brilliant solo run before delivering a precise cross for Raphinha, who volleyed home the opener.

Benfica responded quickly as Nicolás Otamendi equalised with a towering header from a corner in the 13th minute. However, Barcelona maintained their dominance, pinning the visitors back and pressing relentlessly.

Yamal’s wonder strike restores Barca’s lead
Barcelona regained control in the 28th minute, once again through Yamal. The young winger cut inside from the right and unleashed a spectacular left-footed shot into the top-right corner, leaving Benfica goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin with no chance.

Raphinha seals the deal before half-time
Barcelona’s relentless attack continued, and just before half-time, Raphinha completed his brace, finishing off a clinical counterattack in the 42nd minute. The Brazilian’s strike took his Champions League tally to 11 goals, making him the competition’s top scorer this season.

Bayern Munich brush aside Leverkusen with Kane masterclass
Over in Germany, Bayern Munich cruised past Bayer Leverkusen with a 2-0 win, booking their place in the quarter-finals with a 5-0 aggregate triumph. Harry Kane was once again the key figure, scoring one goal and setting up another.

Kane makes history as Bayern take charge
Having scored twice in the 3-0 first-leg win, Kane continued his fine form, opening the scoring in the 52nd minute with a close-range finish. The goal marked his 10th of the Champions League season, making him the first English player to reach double digits in a single European Cup campaign.

Davies doubles the lead as Bayern dominate
Kane turned provider in the 71st minute, setting up Alphonso Davies with a pinpoint one-touch assist. The Canadian wing-back slotted home calmly, securing Bayern’s passage into the next round.

Leverkusen struggle as Bayern march on
For Xabi Alonso’s Leverkusen, it was a night to forget. Without injured playmaker Florian Wirtz, they lacked creativity and failed to register a shot on target until after the hour mark. The loss marked their third consecutive defeat across all competitions, highlighting Bayern’s superiority.
