The Rajasthan government has received Rs 1,024.4 crore as green tax in the last five years, the state assembly was told on Monday. Addressing members in the Rajasthan assembly in a written reply, Minister of State for Transport Brijendra Singh Ola said the government received Rs 1,024.4 crore green tax between 2018-19 and 2022-23. Replying to a question by BJP MLA Satish Poonia, Ola said the figure was available as per the accounts prepared after tallying the numbers with figures received from the Accountant General. A Delhi court on Thursday summoned Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot in a defamation complaint filed by the Union Minister Gajendra Singh Sekhawat. Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Harpreet Singh directed Gehlot to appear before court on August 7 in the complaint filed by Shekhawat for allegedly defaming him with his remarks on the alleged Sanjivani scam. The case is related to thousands of investors allegedly getting duped of about Rs 900 crore by the Sanjivani Credit Cooperative Society. Shekhawat has alleged in his complaint that Gehlot has been making defamatory remarks against him over the alleged scam and trying to tarnish his image and affect his political career.

The Rajasthan government will be roping in social media influencers to publicise its welfare work on social media ahead of the upcoming assembly election. The Ashok Gehlot-led government in a notification on June 26 said that in addition to the print and electronic media, social media influencers will now be hired to advertise the government's works. According to the notification, the influencers will be paid up to 5 lakh per month depending on a variety of parameters, including the number of followers they have and the material they post. "The Rajasthan government would grant advertisements to social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube, which are being operated from within or outside the state, in order to make the state government's public welfare programmes accessible to the general public swiftly. Discussions regarding the formation of new districts announced in the Rajasthan budget 2023-24 were held in a cabinet meeting here on Friday evening. Decisions on recitation of Preamble and fundamental duties of the Constitution in schools, first increment in the interest of the employees in six months, more opportunities to the youth of the state in government service were also taken in the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. The cabinet discussed the report presented by the Ramlubhaya Committee, which was formed to look into the demands of new districts, as well as memorandums received from different areas after the announcements of new districts. Discussions regarding the administrative boundaries of the new districts and on suggestions from people were held in the meeting. Gehlot had announced to form 19 new districts in the state budget this year. However, people in some areas have expressed unhappiness over the announcement. Protests have been held in some areas .

Ahead of Assembly polls, the Congress government in Rajasthan will launch a mega sports event to engage more than 50 lakh people in both rural and urban areas of the state, officials said on Sunday. Buoyed by the "overwhelming" response to the first edition of the Rajiv Gandhi Rural Olympic Games in August last year, which saw a participation of nearly 30 lakh people, the government has decided to hold the games in urban areas too, they said. The Rajiv Gandhi Rural and Urban Olympic Games will begin on International Olympic Day on June 23 and conclude on National Sports Day on August 29, officials said. With close to 55 lakh people registering for the games, which is higher than the official target of 50 lakh, the government plans to publicise its schemes and programmes through the event and promote the spirit of sportsmanship among participants of all ages, they said.
