Hockey India president says Indian team will travel to Pakistan if needed

Hockey India president Dilip Tirkey has said that the national men's team will travel to Pakistan for qualifiers in case it fails to directly qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics by winning gold at the upcoming Hangzhou Asian Games, starting September 23. The team winning the continental event gold shall receive direct berth in the quadrennial extravaganza as per rule but other nations need to play the qualifiers and this time venues identified are Pakistan and Spain. "We will be trying to get the job done in Hangzhou. But, if for some reason, we fail to qualify, then there are a couple of venues that have been identified for the qualifiers - Pakistan and Spain. So, wherever it happens, we will definitely go," he said during a media interaction on the eve of the tournament on Wednesday. Asian Hockey Champions Trophy: India to continue with its tactical changes

The Indian men's hockey team will continue to apply the tactical changes which it introduced recently during the Asian Champions Trophy beginning here on Thursday, chief coach Craig Fulton said. Fulton said the hosts will use the August 3-12 tournament to be played at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium as a platform to prepare for the upcoming Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. Asian Champions Trophy: Pakistan hockey team to reach India on August 1

The Pakistan hockey team has got the green signal to travel to India for the upcoming Asian Champions Trophy slated to be held in Chennai from August 3. Pakistan Hockey Federation secretary Haider Hussain confirmed on Friday that the Sports Board has got the NOC from the ministry of interior. The contingent will leave on Tuesday via the Wagah border and travel to Amritsar from where they have been booked on a domestic flight for Chennai, he said. Haider said they were still awaiting visas for three officials including the newly appointed consultant of the national team, Shahnaz Sheikh. The PHF earlier this month named Shahnaz as the senior consultant of the team. Asia Champions Trophy: Hockey India names senior men's team core group

Hockey India on Sunday named a 39-member senior men's core group for the national camp to be held from June 26 to July 19 at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) Centre in Bengaluru. After the camp, the team will travel to Terrassa, Spain, where it will compete against England, the Netherlands and the home side in the 100th Anniversary Spanish Hockey Federation International Tournament from July 25 to 30. Hockey Asian Champions Trophy: India to face China in campaign opener

The Asian Hockey Federation has announced the schedule for the upcoming edition of the Asian Champions Trophy Chennai 2023. Financial aid for Pakistan hockey before Champions Trophy in Chennai

The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has got a financial boost as the government released Rs 25 million for the sports body, paving the way for the team's participation in the Asian Champions Trophy in Chennai in August. An official of the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) said that after the encouraging performance by the national junior team in the Asian Junior Cup in Oman, the minister for inter-provincial coordination Ahsan Mazari had approved the release of the funds. "The funds will take care of the daily allowances to be paid to the junior team players and officials plus all the expenses to participate in the Asian Champions Trophy," the official said. He also confirmed that the outstanding salaries of Pakistan's Dutch coach, Siegfried Aikman, will also be cleared soon.
