Industry collaborative effort between India, US aims to strengthen ties

An industry-driven collaborative effort between the US and India aims to catalyse deeper connectivity, broader integration and better access, and inclusivity in innovation ecosystems in both the countries, according to an official statement issued on Wednesday. US-India Business Council (USIBC), in partnership with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), hosted the second Track 1.5 round of the US-India Innovation Handshake on Wednesday. It is an industry-driven collaborative effort between the US and India to promote innovation and foster development of critical and emerging technologies, the statement said. "The handshake aims to catalyse deeper connectivity, broader integration, and better access and inclusivity in America's and India's innovation ecosystems, from academia and research institutions to government and industry cooperation," it said. Rwanda rejects US calls for withdrawal of missiles, troops from Congo

Authorities in Rwanda on Monday rejected US calls for the withdrawal of troops and missile systems from eastern Congo, saying they are defending Rwandan territory as Congo carries out a "dramatic military build-up near the border. Rwanda's Foreign Ministry in a statement spoke of threats to Rwandan national security stemming from the presence in Congo of an armed group whose members include alleged perpetrators of the 1994 genocide. The rebel group, known by its initials FDLR, is fully integrated into" the Congolese army, the statement said. Although Rwanda has long cited a threat posed by FLDR, authorities there had never admitted to a military presence in eastern Congo, whose authorities accuse the tiny central African country of actively supporting the violent armed group known as M23. 2 officers, 1 first responder killed at scene of domestic call in US

Two police officers and one first responder were shot and killed early Sunday while responding to a domestic abuse call in a Minneapolis suburb, according to an association that represents police officers. The deaths of the two Burnsville police officers and the first responder were confirmed by the Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association.
