As part of its foundation day celebrations, the National Institute of Rural Development (NIRD) is organising a rural crafts and technology mela at its Rural Technology Park (RTP) till November 11, 2005.
 
The four-day mela houses several permanent working units on various rural technologies such as vermicompost production, natural dye, handmade paper and food processing.
 
The National Rural Building Centre (NRBC)'s housing prototypes, built using low construction technology, was inaugurated by chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy on the occasion.
 
Rural artisans from various parts of the country have on display a range of products that include handicrafts, handlooms, processed food items and coir products.
