Rs 7,500 crore project to be taken up at Tuticorin port: FM

The Minister also said a new port will come at Andhra Pradesh

The Finance Minister today said a Rs 7,500 crore project will be taken up at Tuticorin port.

In his Budget speech, the Finance Minister P Chidambaram, who hails from Tamil Nadu, said an outer harbour project will be implemented at Tuticorin port in Tamil Nadu. This will add 42 million tonne, he added.

The Minister also said a new port will come at Andhra Pradesh.

Three Southern states including Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka will develop Chennai-Bangalore corridor, which houses major industrial units.
