Looking at providing the highest level of medical care like heart transplants and liver transplants, Aditya Birla Memorial Hospital (ABMH) on Wednesday started its out patient department (OPD) services in the city and is slated to launch its in patient services on November 14. | |
| ABMH is spread over 16 acres with 4.38 lakh square feet of built up area. "The current investment for facilities at ABMH is Rs 140 crore and it would go up to Rs 200 crore once the rebabilitation centre and other facilities are built," BK Trivedi, chief executive officer, ABMH, said. |

| "A multidisciplinary health care institution, which will provide therapeutic, preventive and rehabilitative care, ABMH has one of the largest OPD complexes in the country, consisting of 60 consulting rooms, 30 procedure rooms and a team of 90 doctors and 300 nurses serving the OPD patients," Trivedi said. |

| "Once fully operational, the hospital would have 300 doctors and 1,000 nurses," he added. |

| ABMH focuses on robotics and minimal invasive surgery and has state of the art infrastructure for providing treatment in cardiology, neurology, orthopedics, trauma care, gynecology, GI and ophthalmology, pediatric neurology and others. |

| It also focuses on acute care with 125 intensive care unit (ICU) bed complexes, which account for 25 per cent of its total bed strength, at par with the international norms. |

| Sharing the hospital's commitment to quality treatment, Trivedi said, "We have tried out our OPD facilities for a month before launching them today. Currently we are testing the inpatient facilities and equipment and will launch them by November 15". |

| "Similarly we have the technical know-how for complex transplants like heart and liver transplants but it will take a year to launch these services," he added. |

| Looking at providing world-class health solutions at affordable prices, Trivedi said the hospital would also dedicate a percentage of its resources for free treatment of the poor as a part its charity mission. No patient would be turned away from the hospital, he said. |

| "The hospital has got a commitment of Rs1.2 crore from the Aditya Birla Foundation," Trivedi said. |
