Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) has imposed a penalty of Rs. 2.85 crore involving 1400 power theft cases with the help of the Theft Informer Scheme.
"Over 8500 informers have given information about thefts being committed in their neighbourhood, on the basis of which about 1400 thefts of electricity, involving a penalty of Rs. 2.85 crore, were detected by the DHBVN officials," said a spokesman in a release here.
He said today that in view of increased interest of informers in the scheme, DHBVN has increased the incentive to informer under the scheme from 20 per cent to 40 per cent of the recovered amount of penalty and now there is no maximum limit of the incentive. The number of information has increased considerably with the increase in the amount of incentive.
To avail benefit under this scheme, any person can inform DHBVN about theft being committed by any unscrupulous user of electricity, with out disclosing his identity. He may give some secret code.
On receiving information, the DHBVN officials will give a unique registration number of the information.
On detection of theft, a minimum amount of Rs 1000 per case shall be given immediately to the informer on providing secret code word and unique complaint number.
If DHBVN is able to recover the assessed theft amount, 40 per cent of the amount realised shall be given to the informer on providing correct secret code word and the unique complaint number. His identity will not be disclosed at any stage.
