Godrej aims to expand market share in WB

Godrej & Boyce Mfg Ltd is planning to capture atleast 25 per cent of the Indian refrigerator market and also aims to become the number two player in West Bengal during this financial year, a top company official said here today.

“Last year also, we posted above 20 per cent growth and wants to increase it to more than 25 per cent this financial year. Our special focus in on West Bengal. Here, the industry size is about 6 lakh units per year. We want to increase our marketshare in the state too 23 per cent from the current 20 per cent,” said Jayesh Parekh, Assistant Vice President-Marketing, Godrej Appliances. The current market size of refrigerators in the country is about 85,00000.

“In an effort to reach out to all sections of the society, we are launching “Edge SX MuziPlay” — a convergence refrigerator with FM radio and MP3 player — and one more product is in stock to get launched,” Parekh said, while launching the product in West Bengal. The company has increased its production capacity to 1 million units this year in its two plants at Maharashtra’s Shirwal and Mohali in Punjab. He added that more convergence products can be expected from the company soon.
