Multinational technology giant IBM today said it has bagged a contract to establish common- use infrastructure for both IT and non-IT services at Delhi International Airport's new T3 passenger terminal.
Airport operator Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) chose IBM's Managed Network Infrastructure solution (MNI) solution to form the backbone for all IT and non-IT systems in T3, IBM said in a statement.
However, the company did not disclose the financial details of the project.
"IBM's solution reflects the need of Delhi International Airport (P) Limited -- a solution providing quality management of our internal systems and delivering greater service to the users of the airport while reducing issues pertaining to interoperability through this infrastructure," DIAL CEO (Airport Project Development) I Prabhakara Rao said.
The network design permits routing of video, voice and data over a single network platform using an Intelligent Cable Management System with high levels of redundancy and scalability.
"IBM's virtualised Managed Network Infrastructure (MNI) will help DIAL in addressing their requirement for a unified and secure solution that aims at improving the airport experience while positioning them for future growth," said IBM India/South Asia Vice-President (Distribution Sector) Sameer Batra.
IBM designed and implemented this network to meet DIAL's objective to provide world-class common-use IT infrastructure for its customers and this will support in improving service quality levels due to its high available design.
The MNI solution will provide wired and wireless network coverage across the length and breadth of Terminal-3 through a common use, but highly virtualised network connected to core airport systems, IT and non-IT systems, corporate users, government offices, lounges and other public facilities.
