JK Lakshmi Cement announced it would widen its base in Pune by setting up a Rs. 10 crore ready mix concrete (RMC) plant here. It has identified three locations and will soon freeze on one where production will begin by August 2009. "This will be our twelfth RMC plant in the country. We plan to have 20 by 2010," director, JK Lakshmi Cement, Shailendra Chouksey said.

"We are used to the cyclical nature of business that Pune is currently experiencing. Since it is an attractive market we are starting production at our new cement project at Kalol, Gujarat from where we will service the Pune market," he added.

JK's total capacity of cement production is 3.65 million tonne currently which will increase to 5 million tonne, once the Kalol plant starts production.
