Tata Motors-owned British luxury carmaker Jaguar Land Rover plans to hire 130 graduates in 2011 to fill up vacancies across different verticals.

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has inducted over 100 graduates during 2010 in a variety of roles across the business, thereby bringing the total number of graduate recruits in the company to over 320 in the past three years.

"The company plans to further increase this number with the recruitment of a further 130 graduates in 2011," JLR said.

The two British marques had recruited about 70 graduates and under-graduates in 2009.

Since late-2009, sales of JLR started moving towards positive direction and the company has now geared up to roll out new models to further strengthen its position.

Other than graduates, JLR has recently announced to hire 1,275 people for Land Rover. While 1,000 new jobs are added at its Halewood facility to produce the upcoming SUV -- Range Rover Evoque, 275 people were taken on-board at the Solihull plant in West Midlands to meet rising demand.

JLR at present directly employs over 16,000 people. It supports a total of about 1,30,000 jobs in the UK through direct employment, dealers and suppliers among others.

Sales from JLR were at 16,220 units during August, up 29 per cent from the same month last year. While sales of luxury sedans of Jaguar brand jumped by 33 per cent last month at 3,788 units, Land Rover sales were higher by 28 per cent at 12,432 units.

Post-downturn, JLR turned profitable for 2009-10 and reported a profit before tax of 32 million pound.
