JSW's steel production up 54% in September

The production of long steel, which is used in infrastructure and construction sector, went up by 47% at 1.55 lakh tonne

JSW Steel said that its steel production for the month of September went up to 7.33 lakh tonne from 4.75 lakh tonne, a jump of 54%.

The production of long steel, which are used in the infrastructure and construction sector, went up by 47% at 1.55 lakh tonne in September. Flat steel production rose by 15% in the given month.

The company said that its flat steel production showed slower growth as its second hot strip mill was shut down for 21 days to enhance its capacity from 3.5 million tonne per annum to 5 million tonne per annum.

For the second quarter ending September 30, 2012, the company achieved a steel production growth of 25%. The production stood at 21.72 lakh tonne versus 17.38 lakh tonne in September last year. Flat and long steel production grew by 12% and 29%, respectively.
