KBL to start pump unit at Sanand

Co invested close to Rs 30 crore on facility

The country's leading water pump manufacturing company Kirloskar Brothers Ltd (KBL) is all set to start manufacturing centrifugal pumps at its upcoming facility at Sanand from April next year. KBL has invested close to Rs 30 crore in setting up the facility.

"We will manufacture around 500 units per day at Sanand", informed a senior company official. The plant is coming up over 15 acres of land, and has room for future expansion.

KBL is setting up another centrifugal pump manufacturing unit at Coimbatore with an investment of close to Rs 20 crore. The Coimbatore unit will manufacture around 250-300 pumps per day.

The Rs 2800 crore company enjoys around 17 per cent market share in the centrifugal pumps category and an overall market share of around 30 per cent across categories in water pumps in the country. KBL manufactures centrifugal domestic pumps, industrial pumps, agricultural pumps, submersible pumps, fire fighting Pumps,sewage pumps among others.

The company acquired South Africa-based Braybar Pumps, which manufactures high head multi-stage pumps primarily used in coal and gold mines, earlier this year for an undisclosed sum.
