Kolkata-based production house Moxie Group is aiming at doubling its turnover next financial year from Rs 12 crore right now, on the back of more regional movie production, online and satellite revenues, as well production of television soaps.

According to Joy Ganguly, executive director of Moxie Group, group companies Moxie Entertainment, which had produced movies like ‘Bong Connection’ and ‘Via Darjeeling’, and Chivach Media, which used to produce television soaps, have been merged to ensure a more focussed entertainment approach.

“We are looking at producing close to ten movies in 2009-2010 which will be a combination of Bengali and Hindi movies. We are also looking at creating other revenue generating streams by creating websites for each movie where both movies and music will be available for downloads at a price. Also, we are looking at distribution partnerships for our movies in UK and North America,” Ganguly said.

“We are looking at modern commercial movies. While Bengali movies will have a budget of close to Rs 2 crore on an average, Hindi movies will be made with a budget of Rs 5 crore,” Ganguly pointed out.
