Nalco net up 28% to Rs 393 crore

National Aluminium Company (Nalco) posted 28.4 per cent rise in net profit at Rs 393 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2005, as compared with Rs 306 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2004.

The company's net sales went up by 21 per cent to Rs 1,324 crore from Rs 1,090 crore recorded in the corresponding period last year.

Nalco's total income (net of excise) has increased to Rs 1,379 crore from Rs 1,171 crore, a rise of 22 per cent. Gross profit went up by 16 per cent from Rs 617 crore to Rs 718 crore in the corresponding periods. Gross sales rose by 23 per cent at Rs 1,442 crore from Rs 1,171 crore in the last corrseponding quarter.

Operating profit increased to Rs 718 crore from Rs 632 crore. Nalco's earning per share for the quarter under review was up 29 per cent at Rs 6.1 per share from Rs 4.7 per share for the same period last year.
