State-run power producer NTPC today said it will import 12.5 million tonnes of coal in the next financial year(FY-09-10) to meet its fuel requirement.
"In the next financial year, we would import 12.5 million tonnes of coal," NTPC Chairman and Managing Director R S Sharma told reporters here.

The company plans to commission projects of total capacity 3,000 MW in FY'09-10. The projects include two units of Dadari Thermal Power Station, one unit each of Sipat Thermal Power Station, Korba TPS and Aravalli TPS.
The power producer has imported nearly five million tonnes of coal out of targeted 8.2 million tonnes in the current financial year.
