RSP registers best ever April-February performance

Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) a unit of the maharatna company Steel Authority of India (SAIL), has registered the best ever crude steel as well as saleable steel production in the April-February period of 2011-12. In the said period, the steel plant clocked 1.97 million tonnes of crude steel and 1.87 million tonnes of finished steel, thereby achieving 113.3 per cent and 122.8 per cent of capacity utilization. During the period, the SAIL unit also produced 2.09 million tonnes of hot metal by utilizing 114.6 per cent of its capacity. In April-February, RSP also produced 743,297 tonnes of HR (hot rolled) coils and 303,333 tonnes of HR plates, the highest ever since the plant's inception.
