SAIL, ONGC, NTPC, GAIL brass bag meritorious awards

The brass of public sector undertakings (PSUs) like SAIL, ONGC, NTPC and GAIL were among the 13 firms to be conferred top honours by President Pratibha Patil at the First Public Sector Day celebrations organised here today.

"The President presented SCOPE Meritorious Awards in Specialised Fields for the year 2008-09 and 2007-08," a statement from apex body of state-owned firms Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) said.

State-owned steel maker SAIL Chairman S K Roongta, ONGC CMD R S Sharma, GAIL CMD B C Tripathi and NTPC CMD R S Sharma among others received the awards at a ceremony organised by SCOPE and the Department of Public Enterprise.

Others, who were honoured include Punjab National Bank CMD K R Kamath, GSFC MD Haribhai V Patel, power producer REC CMD Umashankar, state-owned NBCFDC MD A A Naqvi, NBCC CMD Arup Roy Choudhury, oil PSU HPCL CMD Arun Balakrishnan, NCL CMD V K Singh, ECGC CMD A V Muralitharan and Bharat Electronics Ltd CMD A K Datt.
