Saint-Gobain gains 70% of solar glass mart

Saint-Gobain, a glass manufacturing company, has 70 per cent market share in Gujarat in its solar control glasses for residence and offices . Rest of the 30 per cent market share is for imported products.

Hemant Khurana, regional manager, Saint-Gobin, said, "Saint-Gobin is the only company in the country manufacturing sun ban glasses. Earlier, the company was offering three different brands "" Reflectasol, Antelio and Cool Lite, which are now brought under one umbrella called Sub -Ban Reflective Glass."

These glasses are specially designed to cut heat and allows only light to enter.

"These glasses cuts around 50 per cent of heat and the user may not need either fan or air conditioner," said Khurana.

The solar control glasses are in huge demand in Gujarat as the mercury is always soaring during summers.

"For us, Gujarat is leading market and the demand of such products, which avoids heat and reduces the electricity bill, is very high," said Khurana.

Talking about the growth of the industry, Khurana said the organised industry of solar control glasses is growing at a pace of 12 per cent across the country.

"With the competitive pricing, the company is more focusing residences and shopping malls in the state," said Khurana.
