"This expansion is part of our overall plan of having 300 fitness clubs in India by 2015," Leka Reddy, co-founder and marketing head, Snap Fitness India, told Business Standard.
Snap Fitness, with over 2, 200 clubs worldwide, entered India in 2008, with its flagship centre in Bangalore. The company currently operates four company-owned and 36 franchisee-run centres in India.
Stating that the wellness industry in India currently stands at Rs $3 billion, she said while the unorganised sector accounted for 95 per cent of this, organised brands like Talwalkers, Gold's Gym and Snap Fitness contribute the remaining.
