Spices exports spurt 15% in June

In terms of value, exports were up nearly 17 per cent at Rs 446.73 crore, against Rs 382.77 crore during the same period last year, a Spices Board release said today.     

The major spices exported during June were chilli, cumin, mint products, spice oils and oleoresins, pepper and coriander, it said.     

The cumulative figures for April-June 2008 is estimated at 1,48,550 tonnes, against 1,21,180 tonnes last year.     

In terms of value, the exports for the first three months of this fiscal stood at Rs 1,375.05 crore, against Rs 1,073.50 crore during the same period last year, it said.

During April-June period, chilli contributed 24 per cent followed by cumin 11 per cent, pepper nine per cent and turmeric five per cent.
