Drug firm Piramal Healthcare today said its director, Swati Piramal has been elected as a member of the Harvard board of overseers.
The board of overseers is over 350 years old and has 30 members, who are selected by the Harvard School graduates.
"Swati Piramal is now one of the five new overseers elected to this 30-member board for a six-year term. She was the only international and Indian candidate nominated for contesting elections by the Harvard Alumni Association committee this year," Piramal Healthcare said in a release.
Over their six-year term, overseers contribute significantly to Harvard, exerting a broad influence over the prestigious university's strategic directions and counselling university leaders on priorities and plans.
