| In a press release, chairman of the Tuticorin Port Trust, N K Raghupathy, said the shipping ministry had fixed a target of 141.99 tonnes for April 2004 to March 2005 for the port. The port surpassed the target well before the proposed time, he said. |

| He said the port's container traffic also increased by 20.79 per cent from April 2004 to March 2005 compared to the corresponding period of last fiscal. |
