Over 2.3 million in 18-44 age group vaccinated in Gujarat: State govt

Over23 lakh persons in the 18-44 age group have been vaccinated against Covid-19 free of cost in Gujarat so far since the inoculation for this cohort began on May 1, the state government said on Saturday.
 
"So far, 23,63,254 youngsters (in the age group of 18 -44 years) have been vaccinated against Covid-19.
 
"In a single day on Saturday, 2,63,507 beneficiaries from this group were covered," said an official release. (PTI)

Coronavirus Latest: MP records 718 fresh cases

Madhya Pradesh on Saturday reported 718 fresh coronavirus cases and 38 fatalities, taking the caseload to 7,84,461 and death toll to 8,295, the health department said.
 
Six out of 52 districts in the state recorded no case since Friday evening.
 
Also, 2,225 patients were discharged from hospitals during this period, taking the count of recoveries to 7,64,822, the department said. (PTI)

Coronavirus Latest: Telangana logs 2,070 new cases

Telangana on Saturday recorded 2,070 Covid-19 cases, taking the infection count to over 5.89 lakh, while the toll stood at 3,364 with 18 more deaths, a government bulletin said.
 
Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) accounted for the most number of cases with245followed by Khammam (172) and Nalgonda (156), the bulletin said.
 
The state has29,208 active cases and over 1.38 lakh samples were tested. (PTI)

Coronavirus LIVE: Nepal detects 5,042 new infections

Nepal's Covid-19 caseload jumped close to 600,000 on Saturday as 5,042 more people have been infected with coronavirus.
 
According to the health ministry, 3,540 cases were detected through 11,471 RT-PCR tests and 1,502 through 5,343 antigen tests.
 
Nepal has so far carried out 3,132,591 PCR and 66,689 antigen tests. With this, the Covid-19 infection tally has reached to 598,204, it said. (PTI)

New unlock guidelines in Maharashtra will end up in fiasco: BJP leader

BJP leader Pravin Darekar on Saturday said the new set of 'unlock' guidelines issued by the Maharashtra government would lead to a fiasco.
 
The government on late Friday night announced a five- level plan to relax coronavirus-induced restrictions.
 
"The notification issued at midnight is full of discrepancies," said Darekar, Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council.
 
Its scheme of five categories or levels is complicated and has created confusion among people, the BJP leader said. (PTI)
