Karnataka records 1,849 Covid cases, 24 deaths in 24 hrs

Karnataka logged 1,849 new Covid cases against 5,418 discharges and 24 deaths on Wednesday. The number of total active Covid cases in the state stood at 23,284. The positivity rate for the day stood at 1.90 per cent and case fatality rate has been 1.26 per cent.

 

Karnataka logged 1,568 new Covid cases against 6,025 discharges and 25 deaths on Monday and the state logged 2,372 new Covid cases against 5,395 discharges and 27 deaths on Sunday.

 

The number of new Covid cases in Bengaluru Urban came down to 835 against 1,979 discharges. The state reported 24 deaths in the last 24 hours. The total active cases have come down to 9,955 in the city.

Twitter adds Paytm as one of payment gateway for Tips transaction

Social media platform Twitter has added Paytm Payments Services as one of the payment gateway for carrying out Tips transactions, a joint statement said on Wednesday.

 

Twitter has started Tips feature that enables users to support their content creators or small business owners on Twitter by using any Paytm payment instrument like Paytm UPI, Paytm Wallet, Paytm Postpaid (buy-now-pay-later), debit and credit cards, and netbanking.

 

The platform already has cryptocurrency and Razorpay gateway to facilitate transactions.

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg urged Moscow again on Wednesday to prove that it is pulling back troops amid tensions over a military build-up on Ukraine's borders, saying soldiers and tanks often move about.

 

"It remains to be seen whether there is a Russian withdrawal ... What we see is that they have increased the number of troops, and more troops are on the way," Stoltenberg told reporters at the start of a two-day meeting of NATO defence ministers at the alliance's headquarters in Brussels.

 

"If they really start to withdraw forces, that's something we will welcome ... They have always moved forces back and forth so just that we see movement of forces, of battle tanks, doesn't confirm a real withdrawal."
